|Discretionary Access Control (DAC)


Discretionary access control is the principle of restricting access to objects based on the identity of the subject (the user or the group to which the user belongs).


A typical example of DAC that everyone is familiar with nowadays is smartphone applications. The application author must request permission to perform any potentially insecure operations, and the user must manually grant these permissions.
